Sources & method
Angler Legend is built on real waters and real fishing science — the world grows country by country, and Sweden's waters lead the way. Here is exactly what is documented, what is modelled — and what belongs to the game.
The documented
The names, locations, shapes and sizes of lakes, rivers and coastal areas come from national registers (SVAR — the Swedish Water Archive, SMHI). Water chemistry, species presence and survey-fishing data come from open Swedish environmental data. When you see a real lake in the game, its name, place and character are real.
The modelled
Where the registers lack detail — depth maps, bottom structure, exact holding spots — the game fills in with a grounded generator: values drawn from the real space of Swedish lake types, deterministic (the same water is always the same water). Qualified, stable estimates — never dressed up as fact.
The established science
How fish respond to pressure, light, wind, temperature, season, fronts, moon and structure follows established fisheries science — the same kind of model that powers real fishing forecasts. The calibration is shared with our sister service Huggtabell.se.
The game
Time runs faster, travel is compressed, and casts resolve by calibrated luck weighted by the conditions — the skill is reading the water, but the fish decides the moment. It is a game, and we say so openly on every page.
Registers & sources
- SVAR — the Swedish Water Archive (SMHI) — lakes, rivers, coastal areas: names, locations, geometry
- SMHI open data — weather, light and climate foundations
- National environmental & survey-fishing data — water chemistry, species presence, measured sizes
