Flarkarna
Character of the water
Flarkarna lies in the cold north — a northern clear oligotrophic forest lake. The water is crystal-clear and the fish skittish in the sharp light. In summer a thermocline settles around 6 m and splits the lake into two worlds.
The surroundings
The lake lies remote, ringed by forest and bog far from any road. Few find their way here — the water is untouched and the stock undisturbed.
Moderately deep (11 m) — shallow bays, the odd reef and a deeper channel through the middle.

Fishing permit required — Flarkarna FVOF. Day permit ~100 kr · annual permit ~500 kr.

Species in Flarkarna
Fishing Flarkarna
perch, pike and burbot sit at the top of the food chain in Flarkarna, carried by roach and vendace. The clearer water makes the fish wary — and rewards a careful presentation.
Whoever fishes Flarkarna regularly builds something of their own: a log of what took, where and when. That's how the water gives up its patterns — cast by cast, never all at once.
General rules of thumb for this kind of water
- Clear water makes fish light-shy — dawn, dusk and night are usually best.
