Kaskaluoppal
Character of the water
Kaskaluoppal lies in the cold north — a northern clear oligotrophic deep lake. The water is crystal-clear and the fish skittish in the sharp light. In summer a thermocline settles around 9 m and splits the lake into two worlds.
The surroundings
The lake lies half-remote, a fair way from the nearest road, tucked into woodland.
A small but surprisingly deep pocket (24 m) with steep drops straight down from shore — the bottom falls away fast.

Species in Kaskaluoppal
Fishing Kaskaluoppal
perch and pike sit at the top of the food chain in Kaskaluoppal, carried by roach. The clearer water makes the fish wary — and rewards a careful presentation.
Whoever fishes Kaskaluoppal regularly builds something of their own: a log of what took, where and when. That's how the water gives up its patterns — cast by cast, never all at once.
General rules of thumb for this kind of water
- Clear water makes fish light-shy — dawn, dusk and night are usually best.
- In deep, oxygenated lakes the predators seek cool depth in summer, shallower in spring and autumn.
