Nedre Upperudshöljen
Character of the water
Nedre Upperudshöljen lies in the south — a southern clear oligotrophic forest lake. The water is crystal-clear and the fish skittish in the sharp light. In summer a thermocline settles around 19 m and splits the lake into two worlds.
The surroundings
The lake lies half-remote, a fair way from the nearest road, tucked into woodland.
Moderately deep (8 m) — shallow bays, the odd reef and a deeper channel through the middle.

Species in Nedre Upperudshöljen
Fishing Nedre Upperudshöljen
perch, pike and zander sit at the top of the food chain in Nedre Upperudshöljen, carried by bream, roach and vendace. The clearer water makes the fish wary — and rewards a careful presentation.
Whoever fishes Nedre Upperudshöljen regularly builds something of their own: a log of what took, where and when. That's how the water gives up its patterns — cast by cast, never all at once.
General rules of thumb for this kind of water
- Clear water makes fish light-shy — dawn, dusk and night are usually best.
- Stratified, oxygen-poor lakes push the fish up above the thermocline in summer.
