Stora Neten
Character of the water
Stora Neten lies in the south — a southern clear oligotrophic deep lake.
The surroundings
The lake sits close to town with a road right up to it — easy to reach, but hard-fished and exposed to nutrient runoff from the buildings and fields all around.
Large and deep (57 m): a central basin ringed by drop-offs and shallow bays around the edges — varied bottom with many spots to read.

Fishing permit required — Stora Neten FVOF. Day permit ~100 kr · annual permit ~500 kr.
- Pike: keep at most one over 75 cm per day.
- Handheld tackle only. Respect the protected zones at the inlets and outlets.
Species in Stora Neten
Fishing Stora Neten
perch and pike sit at the top of the food chain in Stora Neten, carried by roach, nors and whitefish. The clearer water makes the fish wary — and rewards a careful presentation.
Whoever fishes Stora Neten regularly builds something of their own: a log of what took, where and when. That's how the water gives up its patterns — cast by cast, never all at once.
General rules of thumb for this kind of water
- In deep, oxygenated lakes the predators seek cool depth in summer, shallower in spring and autumn.
