Tysslingen lies in central Sweden — a humic brown tarn. The water is crystal-clear and the fish skittish in the sharp light.

The lake lies remote, ringed by forest and bog far from any road. Few find their way here — the water is untouched and the stock undisturbed.

Shallow throughout (max 1 m), with reeds and vegetation over large areas — water that warms fast in spring.

Fishing permit required — Tysslingen FVOF. Day permit ~140 kr · annual permit ~700 kr.

• Handheld tackle only. Respect the protected zones at the inlets and outlets.

Fishing Tysslingen

Tysslingen is a water for those who like sutare. The brown, humic water keeps visibility short — the fishing is more about vibration than sight.

The fishing here follows the water's own rhythm: dawn and dusk have their windows, fronts close and open them, and the season moves the fish. No two sessions at Tysslingen are alike.

• Clear water makes fish light-shy — dawn, dusk and night are usually best.
• Nutrient-rich lakes hold plenty of baitfish but often murky water.
